Your Bio

My name is Joan Thirlaway, just turned 60 and now the proud owner of a free bus pass.
I'm lucky enough to have retired to one of the most beautiful parts of Northumberland.
Hadrian's Wall and the grandeur of the North Pennines (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) are within 10 miles of home.
Our village is just ten minutes drive from the most dramatic scenery, Hadrian's Wall crossing the high crags of Walltown, Cawfields, Steel Rigg, Hotbank, Housesteads and Sewingshields.
The English Lake District,Yorkshire Dales and of course our magnificant Northumbrian Coastline are just 90 minutes drive away.
Gilsland - where better to base yourself?
